India emergency covid appeal

India is mired in a catastrophic humanitarian and health disaster as a deadly new wave of Coronavirus rips through the country

“This is not a curve or a wave. It's a rocket. A straight vertical line.”

Dr Vincent Rajkumar

India is being decimated by a deadly new outbreak of COVID-19. The country is averaging over 330,000 new cases daily, the vaccine production and rollout has been hampered by global export policy, and the healthcare system is collapsing under the weight of hospitalised cases.

The poor and vulnerable are suffering the most, with the highest infection and death rates, as well as mass unemployment. We’re working with ComfortAid International and other partners on the ground to deliver vital relief.

Relieving hunger in remote villages

The most recent wave of lockdowns have left many destitute, particularly in remote villages where employment opportunities aren’t as easy to come by. We’ve pledged over $25,000 so far to help ComfortAid International provide vital relief to those suffering through hunger as a result of the pandemic.

Delivering aid in Kolkata

West Bengal is one of the worst hit regions in India. In the capital, Kolkata, one in every two people is testing positive for the virus. We’re working with partners in Kolkata and the surrounding areas to deliver medical equipment, as well as financial aid and education grants to recently bereaved families.

We have completed our first and second dose vaccination projects in Metiabruz throughout October and November 2021 and over 2,600 doses were administered. Please visit our blog page and have a read of our third quarter update for photos of this great work being carried out.
