Emergency earthquake appeal
14 days ago, Skardu was hit by an earthquake and a state of emergency was declared. Rescue and relief activities in Roundu began immediately.
Preliminary surveys show 18 villages in the Roundu subdivision were affected, which destroyed more than 200 homes and damaged hundreds. In addition, landslides were triggered by strong tremors and 21 link roads have been damaged, and six have been blocked completely affecting food supply.
Our team on the ground have been working in the region for many years, and have started emergency relief work with limited resources.
Beta Charitable Trust are supporting the rebuilding of 20 houses, plus the provision of food parcels for 127 families at a cost of £25,000.
A huge thank you to all our supporters and donors! Every donation goes a long way in preserving life and providing aid to those desperately in need.
