PAMOJA LEO
BCT are proud to continue our partnership with Pamoja Leo, Pemba, on The Baby Project. This vital service, in partnership with the Tanzanian government, supports orphaned and vulnerable children. Our efforts help prevent children from growing up in orphanages by empowering extended families to care for orphaned babies. Since the beginning of the project, 100 babies have been resettled into families. 100% of those children remain in the family they were placed with avoiding transferral to orphanages!
£48 - Provides 8 tins of milk, which feed a baby for one month
BCT previously sponsored Pamoja Leo's school bus, and now additionally support funding offood for their day-care centre, along with salaries for their bus driver and cook.
KIJANA KWANZA
Pre Form 1 Course
The pre form 1 course is a 10 week residential programme based in Moshi Town, Tanzania for children with varied and complex challenges, who are at risk of dropping out of education due to the transition from Primary school, (which is taught in Swahili), into Secondary school(which is taught in English).
For the most vulnerable children, in particular those who have been orphaned or abandoned, primary school marks the end of their education.
This year, there have been over 200 applications for the course from across Tanzania, and 50 have been selected to attend the programme. At the end of the course, approximately 25 students will be selected for full sponsorship at Kijana Kwanza. The funding of the course is £200 per student.
